This chapter is a continuation of chapter 7. If we learned the critical review in the previous topic, in this chapter we learned about the critical comment. We must include all the elements that required in this topic. For example, what is it about, who is it about, source, audience, rhetorical function, purpose, perspective, positioning, and impact. These elements are very important to make a good writing. In this topic, we learned about the way in making our last presentation. After done making the critical review, we pass the critical review to one of our friend. Then, our friend will mark our critical review based on the elements that stated above. If we put the entire element needed, so our friend will mark and put some comments on it. If not, then our friend will cross and also stated the comments there. The reflection for presentation is very good. The presenters for this chapter are

Unit 8
Unit 7
In this unit I learned how to make a critical review of the article that I choose from the newspaper. In this unit also I learned to produce our last assignment. We have to really understand this topic in order to successfully done our last assignment. In this unit, I have to be very critical thinking to make the critical review. It is not easy to make the critical review because we need to very precise. Furthermore we need to be very alert to see all the details that we need. There are some elements that must include in the assignment. For example, we must include the topic, content, audience, rhetorical function, purpose, perspective, impact, and the visual literacy. Reflection to the presentation is good. The presenters of this chapter are Zahidah, Chah and Mira. Three of them manage to make the presentation lively. It is because three of them really understand what in this chapter. So, they manage to explain the topic very well. They made a very good presentation. We must really understand the topic in order to make a very good work in presentation. Or else, we cannot make a quality assignment.
Unit 5
In this topic I learn about the intended of writing the text. This means we have to know the reason we write the text. I also learned about the likely impact of the text on the audience. This means that when we write a text and after the audience read the text, what will the reader feels. In the reading it tells about the exposition of the intention of the writer writing the text. It also justify the way of writing by using the metaphor and other types of writing style. It is because the writer wants to persuade the reader or the audience to read and feel the situation in the article. In the reading ‘Out of Puff’ it shows about the effect of smoking. In this reading it shows the impact of the text to the reader. Probably the reader will influences by the writing and those who smoking might stop smoking. The interesting part in the unit is when in class we trying to predict the real intention of the writer writing the text. Sometimes we argue in the class but in the end we conclude the answer together. The difficult part in the unit is to differentiate the persuading that and persuading to. Both of them were alike and a bit confusing me. However this unit talks about the impact of the writing towards the reader. It is not easy to make the reader get the same idea as the writer. Reflection to the presentation is very good. The presenters for this chapter are Sue, Farah and Nadia. Three of them manage to deliver the message very well. They manage to conduct the presentation effectively. The audiences understand with their explanation. The presentation also goes smoothly and they manage to get praised by the lecturer in class.
Unit 4
In this topic, I learned about the argument or case that being stated in the text. This means like the main idea of the whole story in the text. I also learned about the evidence that provided to support the argument. When we are writing a fact, we must include the evidence to support the main idea. If not, it is like we are writing a narrative essay. We also learned about the evidence that can support the argument. The evidence we included must be accurate and can support the argument. It is because we must put the evidence relate to the argument, if not the argument is not accurate enough. In the reading, it defined the meaning of evidence. It also gives the types of evidences such as circumstantial evidence and testimonial evidence. In another reading, it stated the evidence through the statistic. This means that the article is true based on the statistic provided. The interesting part in this unit is we learned that every good article must include the evidence. It is a new knowledge for us. The difficult part in this unit is when we want to find the evidence for the article. The evidence must be very accurate. Furthermore, the evidence must also support the arguments. Sometimes we cannot find the evidence that can support the arguments and the evidence are not acknowledged. Reflection to the presentation is good. The presenter for this presentation are Along, Wanie and Ella. Three of them present the topic clearly and easy to understand. They are well prepared and get the main idea of the topic. Their presentation also runs smoothly. The lecturer did not talk much to their group as their presentation and the message is well delivered. The audience also understand with their presentation and did not asked much question.
Unit 3
In this unit I learned about the idea of positioning in critical literacy. Therefore, I learned how the writer construct the people referred to in the text. This means I learned to see how the writer writes every participant in the article. I also learned how the writer constructs the reader. This means I learned the how to make every sentences can attract the reader. It is not easy to make the reader like what we write and to make the reader feel the same as the writer feel. In the reading ‘Please, let me go to your school’ by Adele Horin, I learned how the writer attracts the reader and made the reader feel sympathy with the participant in the text. The writer is good in making a sympathetic sentence. Even when we read the article we will feel sorry for the poor girl, even though we did not know the real story behind that. In the reading ‘Truth about Youth’ we can see the way writer construct the participant in the text. The writer makes sure the role of the participant in the text is delivered. The interesting part in this unit is when we learning how to construct the people in the text and also when we are trying to make the good sentences. We have to choose the good work that can attract the reader. We also try to make every sentence feel like alive. The difficult part in this unit is when cannot find or make the sentence that can make the reader interest to read. Reflection to the presentation is average. The presentation is presented by Qursyia, Thuraya and me, Yusafiza. To me, our presentation is not very good as the audience still did not understand with our presentation. Luckily the lecturer helps us with the explanations.
Unit 2
In this chapter, I learned about the stance in the article. I also learned about the writer’s stance or opinion in the article. Besides that, we also learn the implications that occur in our understanding of the text. In this chapter, we have the reading titled ‘Battling the Bullies’. At first, when we read the reading we only thought that the reading is only to give information about the bully. However, after studying the subject, we have different opinion about the article. In the reading 2.2, we learned about language, perspective, and ideology. In this reading we learned how to use new words to stance our belief. For example, the writer writes blacks and whites to show that both of the races are very different. In reading 2.3, we learn about the texts and textualities. There are many examples given in the reading. The interesting part in this unit is when we try to find the meaning for the picture in the article. The article might contrast with the article, so we had to find the implicit idea to relate with the article. Besides that, the interesting part in this unit is when we discuss in class, we can see variety of stance in one article. So, we can discuss with each other to get one precise stance of the article. The difficulty in the article is when we try to find the implicit perspectives or opinion in the article. The reflection to the presentation by Zalikha, Dalila and Fatihah is satisfactory. Three of them present the second unit and trying hard to make the audience understand with what they present. However, there are still have some of the audience did not understand with their presentation about this topic. The lecturer helps them by giving the explanation of the topic.

Unit 1
In this topic, I learned about the introduction of the subject, Critical Literacy. In the introduction, I learned to investigate the writer of the article, I also learned who the intended reader of the article is and also the reason of the article is written. At first, I thought that the subject is easy to understand. However, after studying the subject in class I found that the subject is very difficult. We have to be very critical in thinking in order to get the answer. Like the lecturer of the subject said, we can never say the opinion is wrong but, we can be whether agree or disagree with the opinion. The interesting information in this topic is when we learned the real intention the writer writes the article. In spite of to give information to the reader, we learned that the writer has implicit information that they want to the audience to know. Maybe the purpose the writer did not want to put the direct information because the writer afraid to be condemning by the reader. As a result, the article they wrote cannot be selling. The concept and terminology that difficult to understand is to fulfill the assignment. It is because there are many concept and idea and we have to be really critical to think the answer. We have to struggle to apply what we have already learned in the class. The reflection to the presentation by Nabil, Anuar, and Rahmat that present the first presentation is satisfactory. It is because, they are the first presenters and there are many to fix. Some of the audience did not get the idea they want to give. However, the lecturer did help them and explain what is unit 1 is all about. Anyway, they have done a good work.
